About

We have active the following sports disciplines: swimming, diving, athletics, and bowls We also spread the knowledge of the reality of sports disability through conferences and publications. The company has become a National Technical Training Center preparing and following swimming instructors from all over Italy in their professional process to obtain the specialization of FINP and Special Olympics swimming instructors.

What do we do?

The ASD Corona Ferrea Nuoto Association has the following purposes:

  • Promote social solidarity
  • Promote the development of sport among young people with and without disabilities 
  • Organize recreational, cultural, touristic and expressive activities
  • Organize a motoric and sports activity service

Corona Ferrea Nuoto is a non-profit organization (non-profit organization of social utility) affiliated to FINP (Italian Paralympic Swimming Federation) and SOI (Special Olympics Italy), both sponsored by CONI and carries out physical and sports activities for people with physical, intellectual and sensory disabilities. About 80 users of Monza and Brianza benefit from our services, provided with the philosophy of volunteering with specialized professionals.

What is the Special Olympics

Special Olympics is an international athletic training and competition program for people with intellectual disabilities. Sports activities, practiced together with those who have equal skills, allowing these people to improve their quality of life, enabling them to achieve the maximum possible autonomy. Sport offers continuous opportunities for showing courage and ability. It becomes an effective tool for social recognition and gratification. Sport offers special athletes the opportunity to enhance their skills and to use them productively in society, which, approaching them in joyful situations and festive moments, matures a greater awareness towards intellectual disability. It is a message of great hope addressed to the needs of millions of people, their families and the whole community.

Users socialize and experience the aggregation in the frequency of sports facilities by supporting competitions at national and international level, through the guidance of our sports trainers.

We have a prize list that boasts prestigious medals and titles:

  • World Champions Shanghai 2007
  • European Champions Palma de Mallorca
  • World Champions Athens 2011
  • Los Angeles World Championships 2015

In these years as many as 15 athletes have been chosen to wear the national team's jersey at the World Championships, and important awards have come from the Italian Paralympic Swimming Federation, from Special Olympics Italy and International so as to have in our technical staff the Technical Commissioner of the National swimming Special Olympics, a National Classifier, and a National Trainer of both Paralympic Swimming and Special Olympics.
